The University of Peradeniya is the pioneering institution that initiated offering external degrees in the country since 1979. The Vision of the Centre is to provide equal opportunities for all aspiring to further their career goals.
The Centre for Distance and Continuing Education was established on 09th April, 2007 keeping in line with the principles of Open and Distance Learning (ODC). The Centre conducts degree programmes in all three languages (Sinhala, Tamil and English) which caters to the learners of all ethnic groups from all parts of the country. At present, the Centre offers two Degree programs, BA (General), BBA (General), Diploma in Management and Development and Advanced Certificate in Laboratory Handling.
