The need for psychological support in various aspects of life is growing, and qualified, professionally trained psychologists and counselors are in high demand. However, there is a shortage of psychologists and a lack of awareness about the services offered by the field. This highlights the importance of adopting a dynamic and pragmatic instructional approach, supported by an advanced curriculum, to attract and motivate students to pursue courses aimed at managing psychological issues of diverse origins and natures.

Our psychology program has been designed with innovation, flexibility, and employability in mind. This innovative curriculum has been developed with encouragement from the British Psychological Society (BPS), a UK-based professional body for psychology. As recommended in their recent guidance on curriculum development, "The Society encourages programs to deliver core content across modules within an integrated curriculum that offers a pedagogical development of students’ knowledge and understanding" (British Psychological Society, 2014). The syllabus for the Higher Diploma in Psychology has been crafted to encourage students with aptitude, interests, and skills to progress to the final stage of a bachelor’s degree in psychology, thus accelerating the availability of competent psychologists to the public.

Entry Criteria: Ordinary Level 4 Passes + Diploma OR Advance Level 3 Simple Passes AND O/L English "C" Pass

Graduation and Awards
Students must complete and pass all required modules in this course to receive a Higher Diploma in Psychology & Counseling by Gatehouse Awards (QES) certification. Graduation will be held annually at B.M.I.C.H Colombo 07.
