Higher National Diploma in Nursing - NVQ Level 6
The training programme in General Nursing conducted by the school will prepare students to become general nurses. After completion, they will be qualified to join the Nursing Department of Lanka Hospitals. In the first year, students will learn about the Main Principles of Nursing, other introductory subjects as well as receive practical training. In the 2nd and 3rd years of the programme students will learn more advanced nursing procedures through clinical and practical training conducted at Lanka Hospitals.
The Higher National Diploma in General Nursing will be awarded by the Lanka Hospitals School of Nursing following the successful completion of the three-year programme. The students will be following the NVQ level 6 Nursing curriculum approved by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) and National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA). Therefore, at the end of the course, students will also be awarded the internationally recognized NVQ Level 06 Nursing Qualification by the TVEC.
- Height - Minimum 4' 10
- Age - 18-25 years
- Young, healthy unmarried individuals (Few male candidates will also be accommodated)
- Passed the G.C.E Ordinary Level Examination including Sinhala/Tamil, Science, Mathematics and English Language and
- Possess a minimum of three passes in G.C.E Advanced Level examination in any stream
- Those with one or two passes in the G.C.E Advanced Level examination in the science stream will also be considered
