Programme summary

  • National Diploma in Mechatronics Technology - NVQ Level 5 - part-time/weekends - duration 2 ½ years - includes a foundation course; syllabus covers designing, operating, maintaining and repairing mechatronic systems.
  • Higher National Diploma in Mechatronics Technology - NVQ Level 6 - part-time/weekend - duration 2 years; intended as progression for qualified practitioners.
  • All diploma-level provision is delivered in English Medium where indicated.

Key learning themes

  • Applied study of mechanical components integrated with electrical and electronic control systems.
  • Practical skills in the design and operation of automated and programmable equipment.
  • Maintenance and fault diagnosis for electromechanical systems and subassemblies.
  • Foundational modules to support further NVQ progression and workplace competence.

Admission requirements - National Diploma

  • Should have obtained an NVQ Level 3/4 certificate in the relevant field - preference given to NVQ 4 holders with at least one year course duration.
  • Or passed a minimum of three subjects at G.C.E. (A/L) in Engineering Technology / Mathematics / Science.
  • Or passed three subjects at G.C.E. (A/L) Arts stream with a credit pass in a related subject such as Electrical Technology, Electronic Technology or Information & Communication Technology.
  • Age requirement - applicants should meet the minimum age threshold specified in the official admission notice.

Admission requirements - Higher National Diploma

  • Candidates should possess an NVQ Level 5 qualification in the relevant field.
  • Employment in the relevant field is normally expected for part-time HND applicants.
