Basic Training Course in Aircraft Maintenance

The programme, Basic Training Course in Aircraft Maintenance (BTC in AM) is a certificate course conducted by Helitours Technical Training Center (HTTC), the Maintenance Training Organization of Helitours (Pvt) Ltd, Managed by the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The programme aims to render dynamic bunch of professionals to the region, armed with core competencies on aircraft maintenance attributes which demands in the flourishing Aviation industry, for a substantially reasonable cost comparatively, paving them with a highly prestigious and accomplished life, eventually.
BTC in AM is a course which is approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) and fulfills the pre-requisite knowledge in order to appear for the Aircraft Maintenance License (AML) examination conducted by CAASL and get the eligibility to work on civil aircraft. The programme integrated with theoretical and practical training (60% theoretical and 40% practical), as per the curriculum outlined on ASN 083 issued by CAASL. It is a 2 years full- time training programme (0800 hours to 1400 hours from Monday to Friday).
This course is designed to cover following categories.
- Category B1.1 Aeroplanes Turbine
- Category B1.2 Aeroplanes Piston
- Category B1.3 Helicopter Turbine
- Category B2 Avionics
Each programme is embedded with 12-13 subject modules and 2 compulsory workshop and hangar modules as applicable to the relevant AML category. Upon successful completion of all necessary modules, assessments, written examinations and practical assessments, the trainees will be awarded a certificate of recognition for the completion of Basic Training Course in Aircraft Maintenance (BTC in AM), approved and accepted by the CAASL.
This certificate enables followers to appear for the Aircraft Maintenance License (AML) Examinations conducts by CAASL and to work on civil aircraft based on the individual choices at a particular organization in the aviation industry, locally and abroad. In addition, Practical Maintenance Experience (PME) could be gained as offers by Helitours (Pvt) Ltd, an optional training, that aids students to obtain AML through CAASL. The process converts them as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAE), eventually.
The lectures are conducted by filtered set of well accomplished Aeronautical Engineers and Electronic Engineers of Sri Lanka Air Force. They are closely assessed and monitored during the training. The instructors are trained continually as per the Civil Aviation Regulations on latest technology, Aviation Legislation and Human Factors. The students must achieve a minimum of 80% attendance for all individual modules to be eligible to sit for the examinations conducted by HTTC.
Annually 28 students are enrolled for the course and they are facilitated with fully equipped Air-conditioned classrooms, Practical Bays, in addition to the exposures they get on diverse aircraft maintenance workshops under Helitours.
Recreational Facilities
The students are facilitated with a well equipped Gymnasium, Swimming pool, Playground and Tennis courts, during evening hours as included in the personality development programme, intending to render fully fledged professionals to the dynamic industry.
Eligibility
- Credit pass in English at GCE (O/L) or Pass in higher level English examination or equivalent
- Pass in six subjects at GCE (O/L) with Science and Mathematics. Either Mathematics or Science should have a Credit pass
- However, the preference will be given for the applicants who possess with GCE A/L qualifications in Mathematics / Bio science streams
