Master of Information Technology (E-Learning)

In 2006, Swedish International development Agency (Sida) funded the University of Colombo school of Computing (UCSC) a research and development project to enhance its capacity and human resources in e-Learning (http://www.e-learning.lk). Hence, the Master of Information Technology (e-Learning) programme was started in 2009 with the assistance of several resource persons in universities of USA, UK, Sweden and Netherland.
At the same time, UCSC academic staff received the foreign training from several universities to start this programme, namely University of New Mexico, Stockholm University, Edinburgh University, Umea University, Dundee University and Delft University.
The course is open for anyone who has a degree from a recognized institute or professional qualifications deemed to be satisfied to the senate of University of Colombo School of Computing. Therefore, the first year of degree programme is designed to provide a very good foundation in Information Technology.
Hence, school teachers who follow the programme, will be able to teach in GCE O/L ICT subject and GCE A/L ICT Stream. The second year of MIT (e-Learning) programme will improve the their knowledge and skill in developing educational technology as well as applying ICT in providing ICT enabled educational services.
At the same time, students will be guided to do a project which allows them to practically apply what they have learned in the programme in the second year of their study.
