This short course provides foundational training for the tourism and hotel industry - designed for school leavers and current industry employees seeking practical skills and workplace experience. 

Programme snapshot

  • Duration - 30 Hours (10 weekends) classroom instruction. 
  • Practical training - 3 weeks (21 days) on-the-job training at approved hotels, guest houses, restaurants, airlines or travel agencies.

Entry requirements

Applicants should be over 18 years of age - and have the ability to follow the course in the English medium. These are minimum eligibility conditions for admission. 

Study mode and structure

Teaching is delivered across weekend sessions totalling 30 hours - typically classroom-based on Sundays for the 10-week contact component. Practical workplace attachment follows completion of theory classes.

What you will gain

Assessment and award

Completion requires attendance at the taught sessions and satisfactory completion of the practical training component - successful candidates receive the short course certificate offered by the conducting department.
